Dr. Sweeney is a graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine. He served his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University – James Quillen College of Medicine, Johnson City, Tennessee, from 1987 to 1990. He also served as an instructor in medicine and was named outstanding resident for three years of training by the Internal Medicine Department. From 1990 to 1993, Dr. Sweeney performed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia.

Dr. Sweeney has served the Lawton community since 1994. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. Dr. Sweeney is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the American College of Cardiology. He is also involved in teaching Family Practice residents from the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Sweeney enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He is also an avid outdoors enthusiast, enjoying skiing, hiking, and travel.
